Relaxers

Relaxing Process

Relaxing can be complicated if you don't understand the process. But, don't despair! It is quite simple once you know the facts. There are 3 Easy steps to Relax!

Curly hair can be re-shaped in varying degrees of straightness to achieve different styles. The texture of hair varies from coarse to fine hair, which means different strengths of relaxers are required.

Protection

The first step in any relaxing process is the PROTECTION of the scalp. This is essential with any relaxing procedure. The base used ensures the scalp does not burn. You will be comfortable for longer during the relaxing process and this will allow you to obtain the best result from your relaxer.

Sof 'n Free Protective Barrier lubricant

Sof 'n Free Protective Barrier lubricant will protect the hair from over processing and make the relaxing process more comfortable for you.

Relaxing

The next step is RELAXING. The task of the chemical is to make curly hair straight and manageable. Always use a chemical which is easy to apply and easy to rinse off. Relaxers contain built in conditioners to soften hair and give it shine while the hydroxide (active ingredient) is working. Hydroxide is the chemical base of all relaxers and there are two main types:
1. Sodium Hydroxide - known as 'lye', this is the No.1 professional chemical worldwide. It does not require any mixing process and can be applied straight on to the hair.

Characteristics of sodium hydroxide:

  • Straightens hair completely
  • Keeps hair supple and straight
  • Works fast and effectively

Sof n' Free Shine Crème Relaxer (Lye) is specially formulated with Z-80 penetrant to give you the straightest, shiniest hair while providing maximum conditioning.
